At Relational Embodied, we believe in the healing power of play therapy—an approach that honours the ways children naturally express themselves and process experiences. Play therapy offers a compassionate, right-brained environment where children can communicate their inner world, beyond words. Our work is grounded in play therapy theory, somatic attachment psychotherapy, and the knowledge Rachael has gathered over her career, connecting with the innate wisdom of her clients. Relational Embodied Play Therapy supports children in feeling seen, known, and free to be their true self while giving therapists a concrete, research based framework to conceptualize their sessions and clinical practice.
Using art, symbols, toys, and metaphors, expressive play therapy taps into the child’s natural ability to process emotions and experiences, creating a clearer pathway for connecting to their Self, their true nature.
Relational Embodied Play Therapy is a unique, client-centred approach that combines neuroscience, relational therapy, and the expressive qualities of play. By working with the "right brain language" of the body, symbols, metaphors, and creative expression, we create a safe space where children can communicate what may is too difficult to express in words.
In our sessions, children are empowered to tell their stories through symbolic play, to process difficult emotions safely, and to begin forming healthier connections to themselves and their families.
The nervous system and the wisdom of the body are instrumental in processing what has been too difficult to bear. Relational Embodied Play Therapy embraces the body, neuroscience, and Somatic approaches and incorporates them into play.
Working the child's attachment relationships, histories, injuries, and repairs is a fundamental to the play therapy process. All emotional and behavioural challenges are improved when children feel safe, connected and accepted .
Through right-brain processes, children express their experiences, repair attachment patterns and relational challenges in a warm, accepting, non-directive space.
Play therapy supports children in moving through missed or disrupted developmental stages due to trauma or adverse experiences.
Working with the body’s natural rhythms, children gain tools to regulate their emotions, increase resilience, and restore a sense of safety within themselves.
Children communicate through play—it is their natural language. At Relational Embodied, we facilitate a therapeutic environment that allows children to express themselves authentically.
Our role is to create a space where children feel understood and valued, where they can explore who they are without judgment, and where healing can unfold at their own pace.
With over fifteen years of experience in child led, non-directive play therapy, we know that the journey of healing is unique to each child. Relational Embodied Play Therapy is dedicated to nurturing that journey, offering insight, and effective therapeutic methods to support every child’s unique path to healing.
Rachael Pasemko, a Social Worker, Teacher, Clinical Counsellor and Play Therapist Supervisor, leads with a deep respect for each therapist's journey and a commitment to safety, trust, and compassionate care.
